March Mess

Sleet, Snow, Ice...Oh my!

Welp, it's happened again... I spent the day in front of the TV and will be doing the same tomorrow. Low in the teens tonight with 2-4 inches of snow on the ground, then it's supposed to be 60 next week. Ha! Only in the south can the weather be so crazy! :)

Even though these missed days stresses me out...when I get to sleep in, I forget the stress and enjoy the break!

Oh, and only one week until spring break! Haters gonna hate! :-D

Is it March Already??

What a crazy past few weeks! After Snow Week 2015, I was pretty certain that we had seen the end of our dramatic winter weather. Boy, was I wrong! We had yet another day off last week and now they are calling for MORE to come through this week. Sheesh! I'm not one to complain about snow days, but someday, I've got to teach these kids!

Again, besides the crazy weather, I feel like life with the Tanners has been decently uneventful. We made a quick trip to visit my grandma over the weekend, which was about as enjoyable as can be expected. She lives a very country lifestyle that is very different than ours. All I'll say is, she once shot a raccoon, cooked it, and ate it. That should tell you all you need to know about that.

I can't believe that is already March. While I feel like I have been emotionally healing well, I can't help but on occasion do the math in my head and figure out how far long I would be with Bean. The only thing that got me the other day was when someone I know shared her January ultrasound picture. Her baby is due in August, same as Bean was, so the ultrasound picture was most likely taken around the same time as ours. It brought back painful memories of seeing our too-tiny baby and feelings of bitterness for what I don't have. I don't want to take away from anyone's happiness....but it is sometimes really hard to feel joy for someone else when I feel so cheated.

During the past few weeks, I've started thinking about situations like the one above. God willing, we will be pregnant again someday and we will get to experience the joy of parenthood to full term. I will surely want to share my news with others, but will I want to be so "out there" and forward about it? Before we lost Bean, I was planning my big announcement to the world through facebook and email. Now knowing just how common miscarriage is, I'm not sure how I would want to tell my friends. There will likely be someone out there who is going through this exact situation, and I don't want to make anyone feel the way I've felt over the last 7 weeks. It's definitely a scenario I don't believe anyone thinks about until this situation actually happens to them.

**Side note: Don't complain about your baby on social media...or if you do, please complain in private to your mom. I can't stand seeing post about how babies/kids are being difficult or are staying up all night. You have no idea how much I would LOVE to have my baby keep me up all night. Just saying.

Snow Week Recap

That snow day I prayed for turned into a snow WEEK. What a wonderful time spent in my jammies watching mindless television. We made homemade soups and snuggled with Elsa. In fact, due to icy conditions on some back roads, schools were closed to students today and we will all be back again tomorrow. The most productive thing we did was take down our Christmas decorations. (yes....they were still up....judge away!)  Not a whole lot to report from last week, but enjoy a few pics from my early "spring' break. Only 3 weeks until the real one! :)

Ice Storm 2015

Well, we waited for snow. We got ice instead.

(Won't lie, I'll take what I can get as far as long weekends are concerned!)

The forecast was predicting anywhere from 5-8 inches of snow for us, which is completely unheard of for Tennessee! I was really looking forward to some snow fun, as I haven't seen any significant snow since I was a kid. Unfortunately, the storm shifted, so the day was a mix of sleet, freezing rain, and some snow. When we got up this morning, our street was a solid sheet of ice, as was our walkway and driveway. When the weather let up, we spend the first part of the morning scraping, shoveling, and salting the driveway and front porch. (As well as unfreezing the truck!) Thankfully we took the time to do that, as the precipitation started right back up, covering the driveway (and everything else) AGAIN. (Thankfully, we were able to re-shovel since we had salted it). We got a kick out of watching the kids in the neighborhood attempt to "sled" down the ice. It was also pretty scary as we watched many cars spin out or slide while trying to go up the hill next to our house. According to the news, most of the major highways and interstate systems around us are covered in ice and are shut down. The mayor came on to tell everyone to stay indoors and not get out on the streets unless absolutely necessary. Craziness!

All I know is, I am not complaining and I am ready to stay in my sweatpants another day! Wahoo!
That's ice...not snow
Good luck going up the street! Again, ICE, not snow. YUCK.
