This time of year, my weekends are usually run by winter guard. However, this is the first year since high school where I am NOT involved in WGI, in any form or fashion, and I won't lie... it is kind of awesome
Now, don't get me wrong. I absolutely love the performing arts and the pageantry of WGI. However, I have been overdue for a break, and the events leading up to my absence in the activity (as anything other than a spectator) couldn't have happened at a better time.
Saturday morning we slept in and then took our time getting ready for the day. We ran a few errands around town, which was lovely, as it was nearly 70 degrees outside! The yummy weather and crisp blue sky has made me so anxious for spring time. It was a gorgeous day! (What a bummer, it is supposed to drop back in the 20's this week. ICK.)
That evening, we decided to attend the WGI regional that was in town. We had a great time watching all the finalist performances, while being overly critical of costuming, music, and the inability to be entertaining. Surprisingly enough, I was completely content just watching. There was no time at all I wished I was still designing or working for a group. It was great to just watch and enjoy! I am looking forward to attending a few more shows this season and NOT having a panic attack during scores. Another great part of the evening? Going home afterwards....without having to worry about students or parents. (*Side note---I loved the time I did work for groups...but I enjoy having less stress in my life). :)
Sunday morning, we had a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel...one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I put together our lunches for the week, took a nap, and just lounged. (remember how I said i would gladly stay in my jammies....I wasn't kidding!) I really don't think we could have had a better weekend! Tomorrow we are going to start eating better. The past few weeks, we haven't really been watching our diet, and I think that could also attest to my feeling so worn out. I am looking forward to eating some better foods and getting back to the gym!
I am so thankful for weekends like these with my hubby and I am looking forward to some more in the near future!
**Please note, while I am glad to be free of my WGI shackles this year, I absolutely do love the activity...so I am attaching some of my favorite photos from the past. Blog posts are always better with pictures! :)
